MSRH at Imperial College London creates first university department research feed on popular Researcher app

The Molecular Sciences Research Hub (MSRH), home to the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London, has become the first of its kind to create a brand feed on the Researcher research discovery app – used by over 2 million users worldwide to monitor and access relevant research. Members of the global Researcher community can now subscribe to a free MSRH feed and keep up-to-date with all the latest academic papers, news and announcements issued by researchers from Imperial College London’s Chemistry department, which is based at White City Campus, in the heart of the White City Innovation District.
This new collaborative partnership between the MSRH and Researcher – a fast-growing scale-up headquartered at WCID’s Scale Space – is a highlight example of the innovation and entrepreneurship being driven through co-location within White City Innovation District.
The partnership was officially announced last week at a special launch event held at Scale Space and hosted by Scale Space’s Growth and Partnerships Manager Sodrul Hussain. CEO of Researcher, Olly Cooper, and Professor Oscar Ces, Head of the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London, shared with attendees how this unique partnership will enable the MSRH to expand the global reach of its ground-breaking scientific papers, boost the profile of the MSRH brand and its world-class academics, and foster ongoing innovation.

Professor Ces comments: “We are enormously proud to be the first university department in the world to establish a brand presence on Researcher. We can now provide the global scientific community with immediate, seamless access to all of the high-quality research output from the MSRH. Our vision is to change the way that academia works with industry through synergistic goals, and our collaboration with the team at Researcher is the epitome of this. We are aiming to be recognised as the best chemistry department in the world – both for fundamental and translational science – and imaginative partnerships like this will play an absolutely key role in delivering that ambition.”
“We’re delighted to be working with such a fantastic team at the MSRH,” says Olly Cooper, CEO of Researcher. “Through the Researcher Profile, we’re going to make the work done at the MSRH discoverable as a single, consistent body to the scientific and scholarly community, giving the department that houses and nurtures such world-leading research the recognition and focus it deserves.”
Imperial College London’s entire Department of Chemistry – including over 800 researchers – are now based at the Molecular Sciences Research Hub, a custom-built facility at Imperial’s White City Campus. This landmark building – designed to support the department’s vision for chemistry – provides the team with the space and flexible infrastructure needed to realise the potential for major advances in the chemical and molecular sciences.

Sodrul Hussain adds: “White City Innovation District is creating the perfect ecosystem to give rise to transformative partnerships, and this exciting launch is a fantastic example. Scale Space really believes in the innovation potential through co-location, and we are committed to providing every opportunity to connect the dots and spark these unique collaborations. The future really is being made here.”
Founded in 2017, Researcher’s mission is to become the world’s leading discovery and discussion platform for scientists and researchers. Its customised feeds draw from over 20,000 sources, including journals, news, blogs, podcasts, and preprints. We also have exclusive interviews with authors of top trending papers, and live events to discuss the latest research. The Researcher app – which is available from the App Store and Google Play – aims to make it easy for scientists and students to stay up to date, freeing them to concentrate on moving their research and studies forward.
